"It's not worth it putting more money into that old car!" Yes, it is. If you LURVE that old car and it's still safe to drive and worth fixin', then it's worth it!

Until this winter, my family and I were driving a car from 2003. While the suspension was two inches off the ground, it was worry-free to drive because I never stressed if it was scratched or otherwise worn down. I appreciate the newer car in some ways, but having an older car helped me feel less attached to its fate.

Especially with new and even used car prices! I’ve already replaced the transmission in my ‘14 van once… I may do it again!

Investing is hard and complicated. Still working these shackles loose!

Everyone told us to buy a starter home first, but we bought our “forever” home first. My husband grew up moving every couple years (military kid) and I had gotten my wanderlust out in my 20s. After renting in grad school we moved in with my in-laws, paid off student loans in 2.5 years, and soon we knew we wanted to stay in their small town. We found a house we could afford that we loved, and we knew our family would grow into the 6 bedrooms (which we have). No regrets.

Wow, let’s name the ableism of that yoga teacher first! As someone significantly disabled by ill health I am appalled at the lack of empathy. (Try @yogarogue on instagram/fb for some truly accessible modified practice, I can highly recommend)

Since giving up “perfect” yoga (I have been practising for 35 years now) I have also given up doing anything “perfectly” moneywise ~ 14 years of YNAB and its flexibility have served me well.

One thing I am thinking about though is my risk tolerance - having been very conservative with a small c, I am getting curious about investing in my future in different ways so I can have a better quality of life whilst accommodating my disabilities and potentially improving my health. Thanks so much for this post, wishing you the best possible health too

Hi fellow YNAB user! I’m about 13 or 14 years in also. Game changer!

The best way to save money is by not going out to eat.

Dan, you need to find a new sangha....there are no meditation police in this world.

Only foolish and wasteful people spend money on things that at full price or a “name brand”.

Never talk about money.

A couple should have a joint account or the relationship isn’t “doing it right”.
